Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange data between a website hosting server and a client. Due to the fact that the information exchanged by the 2 sides is protected, a 3rd party won't be able to intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands that may be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for example, the possibilities are limited since you'll not have root access to the hosting server, so you can only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. They are all actions that are performed inside the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to install server-side software or to restart the machine or only a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a number of apps for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Website Hosting

SSH access is featured with all Linux cloud website hosting packages we provide. With some of them, it is provided by default, while with others it is an additional upgrade which you can include with several mouse clicks from your web hosting Control Panel. You can obtain SSH access from the section related to it in which you will also find the information you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to choose the password that you shall use and, if needed, you will be able to modify it with several mouse clicks from the same place. All of the commands which can be used with our shared plans are listed in a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is enabled for your account, you will also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide you with the possibility to access and manage them via SSH. If the package which you have selected incorporates this function by default, you just need to allow the SSH access function through the corresponding section of the Hepsia Control Panel. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you may quickly include it via the Add Services/Upgrades link within the Hepsia CP and it shall be available within a minute. We have a lot of help articles and video tutorials regarding the use of SSH commands to manage your account and a whole list of the commands that you can execute along with numerous examples to give you a better idea of what you can do. If SSH is enabled, you will also be able to establish an SFTP connection to the account and to upload information safely and securely using any FTP app that supports the function.

SSH Telnet in VPS

When you get a new virtual private server from us, it will come with full root access and you will be able to connect to the server and to control everything through an SSH console. The function is included as standard with all package deals, so you will not have to allow or upgrade anything. Your hosting server will be set up soon after you purchase it and as soon as you receive the Welcome e-mail with the login info, you may connect via the server’s main IP address and start working. Because the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts within the physical machine, there won't be any restrictions in terms of the commands which you can use. You will have full root access, so you can set up and run any application that can work on a Linux web server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software running on it.
